Overkill, Developers Of Payday 2, "Apologize" After Recent Community Outrage
- By Ash
- in News
Payday 2 has been the subject of a lot of criticism lately. Their introduction of random paid skins with a random chance for a random stat boost didn't go over well with the community or the media, to say the least.
But they've finally realized the error of their ways and have issued a public apology in order to reconcile with the community... except not really.
Path Of Exile Expansion, Ascendancy, Set To Arrive Early 2016

I mentioned before that I like Diablo 3, and I really do. But when it comes to ARPGs Path of Exile is my go-to game. And now with a brand new expansion on the horizon, one that promises to redefine classes, I'm afraid my D3 Wizard is going to get benched for a while.
The Path of Exile expansion, called Ascendancy, is coming early 2016 and brings with it brand new class specializations, maps filled with deadly traps, bosses, an enchanting system and a whole bunch of skills and items.
Read on if you want a somewhat "brief" overview of the new features and I don't know about you but this has me excited.
Telltale's Game Of Thrones Is Getting A Second Season
- By Ash
- in News
I don't think this news comes as a surprise to anyone that finished season 1 given that it ended without resolving many of the plot points it started. But now we have official confirmation.
In an exclusive interview for The Hollywood Reporter, Kevin Bruner, Telltale's CEO talked about their Game of Thrones adaptation and what is to come.
WARNING: If you have not played through the entirety of season 1 do not click on the link above, it is chock-full of spoilers. On the other hand I'll make sure to keep my article brief and devoid of spoilers so feel free to read on.
Dragon Quest Heroes Confirmed For Steam, Coming In Early December
- By Ash
- in News
It isn't easy being a Dragon Quest fan in the west, the games are scattered on a whole bunch of consoles and some never even get localized in English.
So having Dragon Quest Heroes appear on Steam is excellent news, if it ends up being successful enough perhaps the rest of the series will follow and we'll be able to play them all on one platform.
The release date is set for the 3rd of December and until then there is a rather small 10% discount for pre-ordering. The usual advice is still to wait for it to launch and see if the reviews are positive, the 10% price reduction will be a small consolation if the unfortunate happens and the game releases buggy or broken.
Mordheim: City Of Damned - An Adaptation Of The Games Workshop Board Game Is Now Out On Steam
- By Ash
- in News
Mordheim: City of the Damned is an adaptation of the now abandoned Games Workshop board game Mordheim. The board game itself was an offshoot of the Warhammer Fantasy game with a greater focus on small skirmishes and team based combat rather than big battles the Warhammer miniature games are famous for.
I know very little about the physical game but what I can see of Mordheim: City of the Damned on its Steam store page looks very enticing. Though it leaves me with one question.
How have I never heard about this before today? The Warhammer universe is by far my favorite fictional setting (though I'm more of a 40k guy) and I love a good tactical RPG, yet Mordheim completely slipped under my radar.
Fallout 4 Mod Replaces Vague Dialogue Choices With Actual Text
- By Ash
- in News
Its a bit too late for me now but I am still incredibly happy this mod is here. As I mentioned in my article on Fallout 4 problems the nonsensical dialogue options were the single most immersion ruining thing in the game.
And now we have a mod that replace the vague choices (yes/no/sarcastic/maybe) with actual lines your character will say when you press them, all presented numerically from 1-4 to you. Big thanks to Shadwar who made the original mod and Ciro who added English text to it.
You can download the Full Dialogue Interface mod right here.
Don't Starve: Shipwrecked Landing In Early Access On December 1st
- By Ash
- in News
Klei announced today that the standalone expansion for Don't Starve (as in you only need the base game, not Reign of Giants) titled Shipwrecked will be going live in Early Access on December 1st.
Shipwrecked will pit Wilson (and his magnificent beard) against the dangers that lurk below the surface. And if the Reign of Giants is any comparison I expect I'll be helping the beasts of the world avoid starvation far more often than successfully establishing any self sufficient colony, but at the end of the day that's half the fun.
