After spending only a single day on the test server,s Gwent's Midwinter Update has just recently arrived with 100 new cards, a variety of new leaders, numerous quality-of-life improvements, and perhaps most importantly for everyone's sanity, a much quicker and smoother deckbuilder. First things first, if you're interested in seeing what all of the new cards and leaders are all about, you should head on over to the official website.
On the other hand, if you're more interested in all of the technical improvements and changes, you'll find what you seek in the recently posted developer preview. The video is a little bit on the lengthy side, but it'll at least give you a good idea of what's being changed and why. Have a look:
Steam's Winter Sale has now arrived with the usual gigantic pile of discounts

If you have somehow managed to get through all of the various December sales without filling out your backlog, you might be interested to hear that the Steam Winter Sale has now arrived. It unfortunately doesn't bring with it any cool gimmicks like the ones we had in the earlier years, but from now until January 4th you'll be able to grab a large amount of games at an equally large discount.
Since the concept is identical to every other Steam sale there really isn't much else to say, so allow me to instead give you a couple of suggestion. Not all of the games are going to be up your alley, but these are the ones I've had a lot of fun with throughout this whole year, so I'd say they are at least worth checking out. Anyway, here's the list:

If you were waiting for Life is Strange: Before the Storm to fully release before starting your playthrough, you'll be glad to hear that the third and final episode has now arrived! I won't go into details due to spoiler concerns, but you can expect Chloe to get herself involved in a highly dangerous situation that will force her to make "some of the toughest decisions of her life", while Rachel will finally learn the truth about her family.
For those of you wishing to learn just a little bit more, you'll find the recently posted trailer right below. Before you dive in, just bear in mind that it features some heavy spoilers from the previous episodes, so if you haven't already finished Episode 2 I would advise against watching the video. Now that the warnings are out of the way, have a look:
You have ~4 more hours to grab Layers of Fear for free over at Humble Bundle
- By Ash
- in News
Layers of Fear is a first-person psychedelic horror game with the focus placed firmly on story and exploration. What this means in gameplay terms is that you will have to roam around a constantly changing Victorian mansion, peruse a variety of artwork that may or may not try to scare the living daylight out of you, and naturally, figure out what in the world is even happening.
If any of this sounds like something you would love to experience, you should head on over to Humble Bundle in order to grab yourself a free copy. Just make sure to be quick as the offer will only last for another 4 hours as of time of writing!
The VR version of L.A. Noire has now made its way to the HTC Vive

An HD version of L.A. Noire has recently made its way to the modern consoles, bringing with it things such as 4K support for PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X. More interestingly than that, however, Rockstar has now also created a VR version for the HTC Vive - L.A. Noire: The VR Case Files!
The VR version features only seven of the original self-contained cases from L.A. Noire, but on the positive side they have all been rebuilt specifically with virtual reality in mind. As such, you'll be able to personally search for clues, get behind the wheel and drive to your next crime scene, engage in fistfights and shootouts, write down your own notes and observations, and naturally, interrogate witnesses up close and personal.

If you ever wanted to give the new Hitman a try, but you were a bit cautious due to the whole episodic format controversy, you'll be glad to hear that the developers are currently giving away the prologue and first episode (Paris) for free! If you're on PC simply head on over to Steam, download the free Hitman Holiday Pack, and you'll be throwing chandeliers on people in no time.
There is one very important thing you should keep in mind, however, and that is the fact that the Hitman Holiday Pack will only be available until January 5th. That said, once you've downloaded your copy it will be yours to keep forever, as will all of the progress and mission mastery you've acquired. The same applies if you ever decide to buy the full version or any of the following episodes.
The latest trailer for Code Vein, Bandai Namco's upcoming Souls inspired action-RPG, shows off the story and characters
- By Ash

Code Vein is Bandai Namco's upcoming action-RPG that seems to be heavily influenced by the Dark Souls series, both in terms of gameplay mechanics and storytelling. As you might expect from that alone, the combat is all about precise strikes and dodges, while the world and its inhabitants are all dark and twisted, barely able to hold themselves together.
If you're wondering how all of this translates into gameplay, allow me to share with you the latest trailer. It's primarily focused on the story and characters, but it also features plenty of combat so it should give you a pretty damn good overview of what Code Vein is all about. Have a look, it's quite an interesting video:
