Ubisoft's pirate-themed game Skull and Bones was originally announced in 2017 and pinned for a 2018 launch - right on schedule to compete with Rare's ambitious Sea of Thieves. As you're likely well aware that didn't exactly go according to plan, and so Skull and Bones was first pushed back to 2019, then 2020, then 2021, then 2022, and then eventually 2023 as well.

However, after getting tired of shuffling the release date around for half a decade at this point, Ubisoft finally announced that Skull and Bones will be launching onto PC and consoles on March 9th, 2023! Unsurprisingly, that sort of certainty did not last very long. In a new announcement that I'm sure is going to come as a massive surprise, Ubisoft has now revealed that Skull and Bones has been delayed yet again.

"Today we'd like to share an update regarding our release date as we made the decision to delay Skull and Bones a little more," reads the brief update. "Our determination and focus remain the same - offer the best in-game experience possible to our players from day 1. This extra time will help us in providing further polish and balancing to our game experience, following your feedback from previous tests."

"Additional information regarding our new release date and upcoming tests phases will be shared with you all very soon, so be sure to stay tuned and follow the conversation."

No new release date has been announced just yet, which is probably for the best as I don't think Ubisoft or the general public want to watch Skull and Bones' release date sail away yet again. Once that changes and Ubisoft fully commits to a final-final-final date, I'll make sure to let you know.

Until then, I'll leave you with the freshly posted developer stream showing off what exactly Skull and Bones and its gameplay are all about. Enjoy!
