Dark Souls Gameplay Showcase - Call me crazy, but I love Blighttown!

To most Dark Souls players the wretched swamps of Blighttown are one of the worst areas in the known universe. I can certainly understand why given that its easy to fall into pits, get poisoned by voodoo midgets, or just plain ol' ravaged by hellhounds.

Even with all of that considered, however, I still consider Blighttown to be one of the best designed areas in all of Dark Souls. There are plenty of secrets to uncover, difficult enemies to test your skills against, and best of all, a whole bunch of creative ways to dispatch said enemies. It is a challenging area, that's for sure, but as you'll see in the video below it is also an incredibly fun one as well:

The fifth and final chapter of the modern King's Quest reboot is arriving next week

I often complain about Telltale and how slow they are when it comes to releasing their episodes, but when compared to The Odd Gentlemen and the modern reboot of King's Quest they aren't even worth mentioning. More than a year has passed since King's Quest - Chapter 1 first appeared, and only now are we getting the fifth and final chapter in order to conclude the story.

As for the release date, King's Quest - Chapter 5: The Good Knight will be arriving to the PC and consoles on October 25th. Furthermore, The Complete Collection will come with an added 'epilogue' chapter to tie up any loose ends, though it hasn't been confirmed it this will be granted for free to anyone that owns all of the previous chapters or not. I certainly hope so given that any other course of action is essentially a punishment to those that dared support the game from the very beginning.

If you've never played the modern King's Quest, but are a fan of adventure games, have a look at one of the trailers for The Complete Collection. Who knows, King's Quest might end up being right up your alley, and best of all, you won't have to wait an entire year like the rest of us! Here's the video:

If you ever found yourself wondering how in the world Telltale injected a story into Minecraft of all things, wonder no longer as you now have a rather easy way to find out. Minecraft: Story Mode - Episode 1: The Order of the Stone is now available as a free download on the Xbox One and 360, iOS and Android devices, PlayStation 4 and 3, and naturally, the PC. Though unfortunately, there is a bit of a catch with the last one - its only available on the Windows Store and as such is a Windows 10 'exclusive' offer.

For those of you that require a bit more information before they dive in, here's the rather stylish and ominous trailer for Minecraft: Story Mode - Episode 1:

The Overwatch Test Server has been updated with some highly experimental balance changes

Around two days ago Blizzard mentioned how they are planning to release some highly experimental balance changes onto the Test Server at some point later this week. As you can probably guess from the tittle alone, "later this week" has now arrived, and with it the PTR (Public Test Realm) update!

And let's just say that the Overwatch team wasn't kidding when they said "highly experimental" either. Some of these changes are downright ridiculous and have rather far-reaching balance repercussions, but then again, that's exactly why the Test Server is here! Just have a look for yourself, the list isn't that large even though its impact certainly is:

Battlerite has been updated with two new heroes, a bunch of balance changes, and Halloween cosmetics

Battlerite, the spiritual successor to Bloodline Champions and a top-down brawler with an entirely skill based PvP system, entered into Steam Early Access back in September. Unlike most games that grace Early Access with their presence, I found Bloodline Champions (link to the review) to not only be surprisingly well polished, but also incredibly well balanced for what is essentially an early beta!

A month has passed since then, and already Battlerite is getting its first major update. The appropriately named Halloween Update (0.8) brings with it two new heroes, a night version of a popular map, plenty of Halloween cosmetics, as well as a whole ton of balance and gameplay changes aimed at making all of the heroes more fun to play. As I said, its a rather major update!

The Witcher series is on a rather hefty discount on Steam until October 24

Ciri from The Witcher 3

Nine years have passed since the original (and incredibly broken) version of The Witcher first appeared on the market. Back then I considered it to be a pile of garbage as the whole thing barely functioned, but instead of simply running away with our collective money CDPR decided to take the impossibly hard route of actually fixing all of The Witcher's problems. As you're probably aware given the presence of two sequels and numerous pieces of DLC - they have managed to not only turn The Witcher around, but also spawn an entirely new series with millions of fans!

If you're never given any of The Witcher games a try, but would love to do so if the price is reasonable, you're in luck as the whole series is currently on a rather hefty discount on Steam. Do bear in mind, however, that the sale will only last until October 24, so don't spend too long slacking around or you just might miss it.

As for my recommendation, I'll just quote what I've said during a similar sale back in August given that my opinion has more or less remained unchanged:

The open-world Mad Max game is now available for Mac and Linux

Given how well-received the most recent Mad Max movie turned out to be, I don't think anyone was really surprised to see the official tie-in game appear shortly afterwards. What might have come as a surprise, however, is that the game actually ended up being good!

If you ever wanted to give it a try, but couldn't due to your platform not being supported, you'll be glad to hear that Mad Max just recently launched for both Linux and Mac. And best of all, if you own any PC version of the game (Windows or otherwise) you will have access to all three as Max Max supports the Steamplay function!

On the other hand, if you have absolutely no clue what this Max Max game even is, here's a brief video to hopefully bring you some enlightenment:
