Update 1.2 for Skyrim Special Edition has brought with it some much needed performance fixes
- By Ash
- in News
As is sacred tradition with all Bethesda games, Skyrim Special Edition launched with a whole array of bugs and glitches. It was prone to crashing, the FPS randomly dipped into single digits for seemingly no reason at all, water would occasionally stop being liquid and turn into a flat surface, and things like that.
To Bethesda's credit, they quickly reacted by putting out Update 1.1. - which actually ended up making things even worse by introducing previously unseen varieties of crashes and audio problems! Thankfully, it appears that the second time's the charm as the recently posted Update 1.2 has not only managed to remove most of the crashes, but also most of the problems introduced with the previous update! Here are the brief, but hopefully effective patch notes:
Lost Ember, a beautiful adventure starring a spectral wolf, has been successfully Kickstarted
- By Ash
- in Indie Games
Lost Ember is a recently announced and rather beautiful adventure/exploration game where you play as a spectral wolf with the ability to posses other animals. Rather than simply take them for a joyride, the idea is to use each one's special ability to access new locations or to complete the challenges set before you.
As you can probably guess from the title, Lost Ember has spent the past month going through Kickstarter, and I'm glad to say that it has managed to leave it triumphant! With €326,103 in total, Lost Ember has collected more than triple of its original goal, a rather impressive feat for what was previously a completely unknown indie game.
If you're wondering how it managed to garner so much funding, perhaps a look at the relatively recent teaser trailer would be in order. Let's just say I wan't kidding when I said that Lost Ember is a rather beautiful game. Have a look:

- in News
In celebration of This War of Mine's two year anniversary, the developers have released a free Anniversary Edition Update/DLC for everyone to enjoy. There's new characters to interact with, new locations to explore and potentially lose those characters in, and most intriguingly, a brand new ending to discover!
If you're up for a brief sneak peek at some of the new additions, as well as an equally brief message from some of the fans, I would recommend you check out the recently posted video. You'll find it right below:
The Overwatch test servers have been taken down, Sombra might be arriving later today

[Update]: Turns out I was correct, the update is now live!
The Overwatch test servers went offline earlier today, but they didn't go down with a bang as you would expect, but rather with a simple "boop" and then nothingness. This could mean absolutely nothing at all, but given that Tuesday is the day Blizzard does all of their patches it is a bit too much of a coincidence to simply ignore. In other words, I have a feeling we're going to be able to play Sombra later today!
So just in case this actually ends up being true, and not just the ramblings of a madman who's clearly looking too much into things, allow me to give you a brief summary of what to expect. Since Sombra is most definitely the highlight of this entire update, it would probably be wise to start with her abilities and tactics. Luckily for me, Blizzard has already managed to cover all of that through a brief preview video! Have a look:
Telltale appears to be working on a Guardians of the Galaxy adventure game series
- By Ash
- in News
Its been known for quite a while now that Telltale Games is working on Marvel themed adventure game, but the details were unfortunately just not there. Until recently the only thing we even knew about this project was that its slated to arrive at some point in 2017, which as you can imagine is not the most exciting of news.
However, ComicBookMovie.com recently noticed something rather interesting. As a part of a recent strike by the members of SAG-AFTRA (a union for voice actors), the union released a list of in-development or unannounced games that have not struck new deals. As you can probably guess from the title alone, one of those is Guardians of the Galaxy - The Video Game, listed under the same company that's working on Telltale's The Walking Dead: Season 3.
Battleborn's second story DLC Toby's Friendship Raid has now arrived

- in News
If you're among those that have stuck with Battleborn despite fierce competition from Blizzard's Overwatch, you'll be glad to hear that the second story DLC just recently arrived for all Season Pass holders. As is tradition with Battleborn, don't expect to find a deep and compelling narrative in Toby's Friendship Raid DLC, but if you're up for punching robots and spouting near-nonsensical one liners, then it might just be the one for you!
And just in case you don't believe me, allow me to show you the most recent trailer. It contains "lasers, lasers, lasers, and even more lasers", as well as a variety of jokes so cheesy they would probably taste quite nicely on a pizza! Anyway, have a look:
Dishonored 2 devs are aware of the PC performance problems, and are currently working on a fix
- By Ash
- in News
While Dishonored 2 is by all accounts a pretty damn good game, it unfortunately launched on PC with some rather troublesome technical problems. But crashes and infinite loading times aside, the biggest issue currently plaguing the PC version is the unstable performance which can occasionally drop the framerate down to a single digit. Not exactly the best way to experience Dishonored 2, I'm sure you'll agree.
Well, if you're among the unlucky ones affected by these issues I do bring some good news. In a recent blog post Arkane Studios announced that they are well aware of all the PC performance issues and that they are actively working on a fix. Since the whole message is rather brief, here's the full quote:
