Total War: Warhammer 2's "Early Adopter" bonus will be a new playable faction for the original - most likely Norsca

It has been known for a little while now that Total War: Warhammer 2's pre-order bonus will in some way be related to the original game, but what exactly the bonus was nobody knew. While the specifics are still unknown, Creative Assembly has come out today and announced that instead of a pre-order bonus the new content will be available to everyone who purchases the game within the first week, and that it will be a new playable race for Total War: Warhammer!

The early-adopter Race Pack will be revealed later this week, but what I can tell you right now is that it will be more along the lines of Bretonnia rather than the Chaos Warriors. In other words, you can expect to see new legendary lords with unique starting positions and their own factions, a whole bunch of new units, as well as different and race-specific mechanics to make it all the more interesting.

Geese Howard from Fatal Fury will be joining the Tekken 7 roster this Winter

When it comes to fighting games these days it appears that crossovers are the all the rage. Some games are being designed from the ground up as a massive crossover between multiple series, while others such as Tekken 7 are inviting characters from different games to join their ever-expanding roster.

As you can probably guess from the title alone, for Tekken 7 this means that Geese Howard of Fatal Fury fame will be coming to bolster the ranks. The details are currently a bit shaky, but you can expect to see Geese Howard arrive as a part of DLC #2 this Winter, though no specific release date has been given just yet.

The Egypt-themed Assassin's Creed Origins will be coming to PC and consoles in late October

After the fairly mediocre Assassin's Creed Syndicate Ubisoft promised they would spend a lot more time ensuring that the next 'proper' Assassin's Creed game will be both bug-free and much more interesting. Whether the newly announced Assassin's Creed Origins is going to be bug-free, I certainly have no idea, but at least it does appear to be much more enticing than the previous entries in the series.

First and foremost, it is set in Ancient Egypt, an era that is very rarely represented in games if you ignore the presence of sand dunes and the occasional pyramid full of zombies you find every once in a while. The second, and perhaps most important change, is the newly reworked combat. Instead of just staring down 10 guards waiting to counter-attack them one by one, in Origins you will have to actually fight your enemies in what appears to be a simpler version of the Dark Souls combat system. Given the casual nature of the Assassin's Creed series its most likely not going to be as punishing, but hopefully it'll be at least half as exciting as that alone would be a massive improvement for the series!

Distrust is an upcoming sci-fi survival game heavily inspired by John Carpenter's "The Thing"

While I'm not a big fan of horror movies, John Carpenter's "The Thing" is one of the rare few I am perfectly willing to rewatch each year once it inevitably appears in the post-Christmas broadcasting lull. As such, I'm quite happy to say that the upcoming 3D survival game Distrust appears to be a rather faithful adaption of the concept.

As you would expect the action starts with our lone survivors getting stranded near an abandoned Arctic base that just so happens to host a rather nasty shape-shifting creature. In order to survive you will need to not only scavenge for food and equipment, but also keep a close eye at your fellow survivors as you can never tell which one of them is not what they appear to be. As a movie concept this worked pretty damn great, but how does it all transfer to a video game?

The Division's upcoming Update 1.7 will add global events and a new Classified tier of equipment

Whatever your thoughts on The Division may be, its still impressive to see Ubisoft support it despite the slowly dwindling playerbase. While the upcoming Update 1.7 may not revolutionize the entire game, it will bring with it some much-needed end-game content for players to explore.

The first of the new major features will be global events. They will appear once a month and last for around a week, bringing with them a variety of unique modifiers which will force players to adapt and adjust in order to succeed. Naturally, completing these types of difficult missions will give you a sizable amount of loot, including an event token that can be spent on Classified Gear Caches.

Sundered's launch trailer has arrived with a brief glimpse at some of the bosses you'll get to slay

Sundered is a hand-drawn Metroidvania that will have you explore a ruined world teeming with eldritch horrors. Unlike most Metroidvania games, however, Sundered will have a mixture of hand-crafted and procedurally generated levels, so while you'll be fighting the same bosses as everyone else your playthrough will most likely not be the same.

Given their importance to the overall flow of the game you might be interested to see what these bosses will be all about, in which case you should check out the recently posted launch trailer. Have a look:

The remastered version of Age of Empires will be coming later this year

Age of Empires: Definitive Edition official artwork and logo

The modern remaster of the RTS classic Age of Empires 2 was so successful it ended up spawning entirely new expansions, so it shouldn't come as a massive surprise to hear that Microsoft has announced the Definitive Edition of the original Age of Empires. It will come with fully remastered 4k graphics, a re-orchestrated sound track, major gameplay improvements including the ability to zoom out way further than what was previously possible, and perhaps most importantly, a modern matchmaking system.

You can check out what the new and improved Age of Empires looks like in the relatively recent announcement trailer. It doesn't feature much in terms of straight up gameplay, but its more than enough to give you an idea of just what the developers are trying to achieve. Have a look:
