Total War: Warhammer 2's May update will rework the incredibly crippling Skaven food system

[Update #2] The patch is now live. You can find the full patch notes, as well as more about the accompanying "The Queen and the Crone" DLC over here.
[Update]: Creative Assembly have also announced four new Monster Hunts for Norsca. Next week we're most likely going to getting another Dwarf-related announcement.
In Warhammer lore the Skaven are present in just about every part of the world, their numbers completely beyond any measure. In Total War: Warhammer 2, however, the Skaven are one of the races that have the most issues expanding their influence across the campaign map due to how crippling the whole food system is. Up until recently you could remedy this by raiding your own lands, but ever since that got nerfed the Skaven have felt significantly less fun to play.
With that in mind, I am very glad to say that Skaven will be getting a major buff to their food sources with the massive May update. All of the details have not been revealed just yet, but you can expect to see new sources of food in technologies, rites and buildings. It might not sound like much, but it should go a long way towards promoting an aggressive playstyle for the Skaven, something the race has been designed around from the very beginning.
Arma 3 and Day of Infamy are free to try out on Steam until Monday

If you're looking for some new team-orientated shooters to sink your teeth into, you might be glad to hear that Arma 3 and Day of Infamy are currently free to try out on Steam. The promotion will only last until Monday, however, so if you're interested you should go and start the download immediately in order to have enough time to actually play them.
As for whether they're any good not, I'm afraid I have no personal experience with them since these types of shooters aren't my cup of tea. That said, I have heard a great deal of praise about both games, and they are currently at 89% and 85% approval rating on Steam respectively, so if you're even remotely curious about tactical shooters it might be a good idea to give them a chance. After all, they're completely free for the time being!
Dark Souls Remastered's newest gameplay trailer shows off the slightly improved visuals

- in News
Dark Souls, my personal favorite game of all time, will be getting a remastered edition on May 25th for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4, while the Switch version will be coming at some point this summer. In terms of content, Dark Souls Remastered will bring with it slightly improved visuals, better performance across the board, and perhaps most importantly, a smooth 60 fps even in the depths of Blighttown.
If you're curious about what the visual improvements are going to look like, you might be interested to hear that Bandai Namco has now released a brief gameplay trailer. You'll find the video right below, but I would advise tempering your expectations as the graphical upgrade appears to be quite subtle, which is to say I can barely notice the difference. Anyway, have a gander:
The Tribes inspired fast-paced shooter Midair will be going free-to-play on March 3rd
- By Ash
- in Indie Games
Midair is a fast-paced jetpack shooter heavily inspired by the oldschool Tribes series. What this means in gameplay terms is that you will have to make use of momentum and skating mechanics to move across the map at ridiculous speeds, build defenses and guard your flag from enemies that can approach from every angle, as well as try and master landing shots on players that are constantly zipping around.
Since trying to explain this kind of a shooter through words alone is a bit of a lost cause, allow me to share with you the Early Access trailer. It's a little bit outdated at this point, but it should give you a general idea of what Midair is trying to accomplish. Have a look:
World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth has now entered the Beta stage, expect to see less major changes moving forward

World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth has been available for alpha testing for a quite a while now, though only to a small portion of the playerbase. Now that Blizzard has officially moved it to beta, however, you can expect to see a lot more invites flying out in the relatively near future.
If you would like to participate, simply head on over to the Blizzard website and opt-in to the World of Warcraft beta. There is no guarantee you'll get in, but the whole process takes less than a minute, so you might as well give it a try. It's also worth mentioning that Blizzard sends these invites out in waves, so if you don't get in instantly, worry not as you'll have a chance all the way until the beta closes near the Battle for Azeroth's August 14th launch.
Vermintide 2 update 1.0.7 has now fixed most of the annoying bugs with enemy spawns and attacks
- By Ash
- in News
As I've mentioned in my review, Vermintide 2 is an exemplary sequel and a highly enjoyable game in its own right, but unfortunately its Legend difficulty has also been the source of much frustration for me these past few weeks. Not because of the difficulty, mind you, but rather because of bugged enemy spawns that would result in nearly unwinnable scenarios simply appearing in front of my party and killing us instantly.
With that in mind, I hope you can understand just how delighted I am to say that today's Update 1.0.7 has now fixed the vast majority of these problems! Patrols will now spawn further away from players in order to give them time to react, special enemies will now spawn with a slightly longer delay between them, Globadiers will no longer instantly throw their poison the moment they spawn, and the list goes on for a while. Long story short, most of the unfair and quite frankly cheap attacks have been changed in order to make them more consistent and counterable.
The survival-focused city builder Frostpunk has now made its way to PC
- By Ash
- in Indie Games
Frostpunk is a newly released and survival-focused city building game that will have you ensure the last city on Earth remains standing amidst the frozen wasteland. In order to do so you will need to create interconnected compounds with the help of steam-powered technology, make what appears to be difficult moral choices with no black and white answers, as well as explore the snow-swept wilderness in search of other survivors and valuable resources.
If you're wondering what all of this might look like, allow me to share with you two of the most recent trailers. The first one is a cinematic trailer that should give you a good idea of what to expect in terms of atmosphere and lore, while the second one offers a closer look at the gameplay itself.
