Hearthstone screenshot of an Orc and his blown up board

A little while back Blizzard added "synergy picks" to Arena in order to allow for more combo-centric decks, especially for dragons, elementals, and other tribal cards. Unfortunately, the newly added system did not work out as planned. You are guaranteed to get synergy cards such as Auctioneer and Book Wyrm in your first few picks, but all of the following cards are chosen entirely at random, so even if you planned to make a dragon deck there was no real guarantee you would get any more dragons.

The end result was that each and every single arena deck featured the same few cards, usually without any sort of activator to make them actually useful. As you might imagine, having basically useless cards clogging up decks did not go over well with the general Arena playerbase, which then quickly turned on the new "synergy picks" system. Thankfully, it would appear that Blizzard is aware of the problems and are looking to address them in the near future.

Clementine and Lee from The Walking Dead: Season 1 adventure game

If you've never played The Walking Dead: Season 1, or any of Telltale's modern work for that matter, consider this your lucky day! For the next 23 hours you can grab the entire season for free by going to the Humble Store, and I would highly recommend you do so as the game is downright awesome.

The Walking Dead: Season 1 does have some flaws, mind you, but if you approach it with an open mind and without a wiki at your side I can almost guarantee you will have a blast with it. Much like the comic, its less about the 'scary zombies' and more about the characters and their plight, so be prepared for a bit of an emotional rollercoaster!

The Kislev team from Blood Bowl 2

Blood Bowl 2, in the most basic sense, is an insane combination of American football and Warhammer brutality. While you're still technically playing football, the matches feature about as many murders and dismemberments as they do touchdowns, though with half the 'athletes' being bloodthirsty Orks and similar monstrosities this really shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

After already releasing a whole bunch of DLC factions, Blood Bowl 2 developers have just recently added a brand new expansion, as well as a Legendary Edition that bundles all of that together into one neat package. If you need a quick overview of what exactly the Legendary Edition brings to the table, you'll find the recently posted trailer showcasing just that right below. Have a look:

Total War: Warhammer 2 screenshot showing the Dark Elves and High Elves in combat

Being a fan of the High Elves has not been easy these past few months. While they did get a bit of a spotlight in the recent Dark Elf vs High Elf battle video, they have mostly been used as target practice for the other races, just something to show how powerful monsters such as the War Hydra truly are.

After being beaten down time and time again, I am very glad to say that the High Elves now finally have a video showing off not only their campaign mechanics, but them taking revenge on the other races as well! You'll find the video right below, and even if you're not a fan of the High Elves I would recommend you give it a look as it offers some good insights into how the upcoming Vortex campaign map will play out. Here's the video:

Billie Lurk from Dishonored: Death of the Outsider looking rather relaxed

Dishonored: Death of the Outsider will have us step into the shoes of Billie Lurk in order to plan and execute the most ambitious assassination the world has ever seen: getting rid of the Outsider! As you might imagine, trying to kill a nearly godlike being is not going to be an easy task by any stretch.

In order to make this even remotely possible Death of the Outsider will be giving us access to a variety of new abilities and gadgets, most of which are noticeably more powerful than the ones that came before them. If you're wondering what exactly they are, and how they should be used, you'll find what you seek in the most recent preview video down below. Have a look, its rather interesting:

Darkest Dungeon's upcoming Shieldbreaker class

[Update]: Darkest Dungeon 2 is heading into Early Access on October 26, 2021

Back in June Darkest Dungeon received its very first and very significant piece of DLC - The Crimson Court. The mini-expansion brought with it a new hero class, an entirely new dungeon named The Courtyard, a whole bunch of disgusting new enemies and bosses, as well as a variety of improvements to the Hamlet. Only a little while has passed since The Crimson Court, and it would appear that the Darkest Dungeon developers are already planning to add new content.

As you might guess from the title, the newly announced content is an additional class by the name of The Shieldbreaker. Besides the rather cryptic quote that came with the announcement, "Sever the weakened limb; the protected foe", I'm afraid nothing else has been revealed about The Shieldbreaker just yet.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition screenshot of snowy ruins

If you're one of the seven people that have never laid their hands on Skyrim, despite it releasing on just about every platform in existence at this point, you'll be glad to hear that you now have a chance to do just that! For the next two days The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition will be completely free to try out on Steam. Simply click that "Play Game" button and you'll be exploring the frozen North in no time.

As for the Special Edition itself, it includes all of the previously released DLCs, as well as new features such as remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, and other such visual improvements. Its not much compared to how significantly mods have altered Skyrim over the years, but for your first playthrough it should do just fine.

Enter the Gungeon's Advanced Gungeons & Draguns official artwork

Enter the Gungeon developers have recently announced that they are working on a second major content update called Advanced Gungeons & Draguns. The mini-expansion will bring with it a bunch of community requested features, quality of life changes and general improvements, but also hundreds of new and substantially more powerful synergies, a variety of new guns and items, as well as a brand new boss.

The goal behind this update is to make the Gungeon a more generous place, while still preserving the same sort of punishing difficulty. In other words, the enemies will be just as powerful as they ever were, but you will a much greater degree of choice when it comes to viable weapons and tactics. This should hopefully prevent scenarios where you get stuck with an array of nearly worthless weapons against enemies that can easily bring you down.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 artwork featuring PvP

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is an upcoming turn-based RPG with the focus firmly placed on combat. There are a variety of elemental combos to preform, each with their own unsurprisingly devastating result, as well as a whole bunch of different spells and abilities to toy around with. Add to that 4-player co-op and you can easily see why Original Sin 2 currently has overwhelmingly positive reviews on Steam despite still being in Early Access.

Since trying to describe gigantic fireballs through words alone is a bit of a silly venture, allow me to instead share with you one of the recent trailers. Its not very long, but it should give you a pretty damn good overview of what Divinity: Original Sin 2 brings to the table. Have a look:

Artwork and logo for Obsidian's Tyranny RPG

I've mentioned this multiple times since my initial review for Tyranny, but the campaign ended in such an anticlimactic way that it was practically guaranteed Obsidian was planning to do an expansion or sequel of some sort. After quite a long wait the expansion has now finally arrived, hopefully bringing with it enough new story content to give the ending a proper conclusion.

I haven't played it myself, but according to Obsidian you can expect to see new companion quests and storylines involving Verse, Barik, and Lantry, a whole bunch of new features and expanded content for Tyranny's solely lacking end-game, and naturally, a brand new region to explore and potentially devastate. If you're wondering what all of this might look like in game, here's the recently posted launch trailer:
