World of Warcraft: Dragonflight artwork for the new zone in Embers of Neltharion update

[Update #2]: Patch 10.1 - Embers of Neltharion has now been unleashed, and I'm happy to say that it's looking quite good so far!

If you've chewed through the bite-sized Update 10.0.7 and you're now itching for some new stuff to do, you'll be happy to hear that the next big patch is right around the corner. To be more specific, Update 10.1 - Embers of Neltharion will be going live on May 2nd, 2023.

Embers of Neltharion will bring with it Zaralek Caverns as a chunky new zone to explore, a continuation of the story campaign that will have us face off against the freshly freed Incarnates, a brand new raid by the name of Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible, as well as new Assaults to repell in both the Azure Span and Ohn’ahran Plains zones.

Perhaps most excitingly, Update 10.1 will finally bring with it cross-faction guilds! So outside of a few small restrictions, your faction choice will soon have almost no bearing on your endgame progression, which is definitely for the best as some regions are horribly lopsided in terms of population numbers.

Speaking of endgame progression, it's important to note that the Aberrus, the Shadowed Crucible raid will not be opening its doors with the launch of the patch, but rather a week later on May 9th. The reason for this delay, as you might imagine, is to ensure players get to actually explore the new zone and storylines before putting the big bad badguy to the sword. As for the various Raid Finder wings, no details have been announced just yet, but I'd imagine those will be opening on a weekly basis after a small initial delay.

Whatever the case may be, I'll make sure to let you know once Blizzard details all of the new additions and tweaks. Until then, you can read a few more tidbits about Update 1.0 (and these do include some light spoilers) over at the PTR forums. Enjoy!
