[Update #2]: Warcraft 3: Reforged has now finally been released, and it's unfortunately a bit of a mixed bag.

[Update]: Blizzard has now revealed that Warcraft 3: Reforged will be released in January 28, 2020!

If you've been following Warcraft 3 related news for the past year or so, then you're no doubt aware that Blizzard has been putting significant resources into balancing pretty much every aspect of gameplay. Even back then it was obvious that Blizzard is preparing for a "Starcraft: Remastered" update for Warcraft 3, but what nobody could've guessed is that they would take things to a whole new level with Warcraft 3: Reforged.

According to the official website, every character, structure and environmental detail has been recreated from scratch in order to not only bring them into the modern era, but also to recapture all of the same charm they once held. In other words, you can expect to see Warcraft 3's classic units in 4K quality, with updated animations and new customization options, as well as a fancy (yet still faithful) recreation of all the cinematics.

Since there is no better way to show you all of this than through two of the recently posted trailers, allow me to do just that. The first of these videos showcases a beautifully remastered version of Warcraft 3's intro cinematic, while the second one shows off all of the new gameplay and visual improvements. Have a gander:

Personally, I cannot be more excited about this announcement! Not only is Warcraft 3 the game that defined a better portion of my childhood, but it's also my favorite RTS game of all time. Now don't get me wrong, StarCraft 2 is a great deal of fun, but there's just something truly captivating about Warcraft 3's slower pace and focus on smaller amounts of more meaningful units and heroes.

So if you're as interested in Warcraft 3: Reforged as I am, I'm afraid I have a little bit of a bad news - it will most likely be releasing around December 31st, 2019! The official website does state it might release before that if everything goes well, but either way, we're going to be in for a bit of a wait. I can only hope it will all be worth it in the end because I can't wait to give the Night Elves another spin, especially now that the Keeper of the Grove seems quite viable!
