[Update #2]: Total War: Warhammer 3's long awaited Immortal Empires campaign is most likely coming in September!

[Update]: Creative Assembly has now revealed their plans for the massive Update 1.1 and what comes after.

In an effort to fix up some of Total War: Warhammer 3's technical troubles, as well as to keep the community in the loop, Creative Assembly recently laid out their plans for the upcoming updates. Since the really big changes still need a bit more time in the oven, the humble Patch 1.0.2 has now been unleashed in order to fix up some of the more annoying problems and to help pave the way for what is to come.

The patch notes are fairly small, so here's a brief rundown of everything that has been changed, with the most important stuff being near the top:

MULTIPLAYER

Fixed an issue that caused battles in multiplayer campaign to desync.

 General multiplayer services improvements.

GAME

Improved our build-authoring process, which will reduce the excessive install times required for relatively small patches. We expect to further reduce these install times with the next game update.

Fixed a problem where the vertical sync (VSync) setting was being forced on for some players—artificially limiting the framerate regardless of system specs.

The game will now display an error if installed to a folder path that uses non-English characters. Doing so will cause the game to be unresponsive. To alleviate this, we recommend changing the installation location to a folder or folder path that doesn't include non-English characters.

Resolved game stuttering issues when playing the game in Windows 11 with Intel Alder Lake (12th-generation) processors.

Fixed an issue that caused the game to hang on first boot in certain languages.

Out of all the tweaks, the one that excites me the most is the push towards reduced installation times for future patches. Right now Total War: Warhammer 3 has to unpack all of the game files in order to do even the smallest of changes, which as you might imagine, is not exactly fun to sit through when you just want to play a couple of battles after work. So if Patch 1.0.2 and its follow-ups can make this process go by faster and easier, that would be a significant win for everyone involved!

Once the next big update arrives, most likely in early April as previously announced, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, have fun with the Realms of Chaos and here's to hoping the Immortal Empires combined campaign map comes in the not too distant future.
