[Update] The patch is now live. You can find the full patch notes, as well as more about the accompanying "The Queen and the Crone" DLC over here.

Total War: Warhammer 2 will be getting a whole bunch of new content this May 31st. The Queen and The Crone DLC will bring with it two new Legendary Lords and a plethora of new units to toy around with, Norsca will finally make its way to both the Vortex and Mortal Empires campaign, the Dwarfs will be getting some much-needed changes and even a new Slayer unit, and last but not least, Alith Anar will be joining the High Elf roster as a brand new (and free) Legendary Lord.

If you're interested in a brief overview of all the new additions you will find what you seek over here, but for now I'll focus on the newly revealed Legendary Lord Alith Anar. He is going to be playable in both the Vortex and Mortal Empires campaign, and as you might expect given his lore, he will begin in Nagarythe with a burning hatred for anything even remotely shaped like a Dark Elf.

As far as playstyle is concerned, Alith Anar and his seemingly exclusive Shadow Walker units will be primarily focused around speed and stealth, with benefits such as reduced Global Recruitment duration, bonuses to ambushing, and naturally, a hefty upkeep reduction for the Shadow Walkers themselves. The exact numbers haven't been announced just yet, but here are all of Alith Anar's faction traits:

Shadow Realm: Alith Anar is able to move like a shadow across the campaign map without triggering interception.

Shadow Walkers: Alith Anar is able to recruit his own dedicated units of elite skirmishers.

Spirit of Vengeance: All armies of Nagarythe gain the ambush stance as their default stance.

Marked For Death: At certain intervals, a hit-list of characters in the world will be Marked for Death. Eliminating these targets will grant various rewards, including influence which can be used to buy Lords or gain favour in the court.

Mislead: This battle ability enables Alith Anar to conjure an identical decoy of himself on the battlefield while he slips into the shadows.

Invocation of Morai-Heg: Alith Anar’s new and exclusive Rite allows him to summon the Hand of the Shadow Crown to serve him. This elite Shadow Warrior Hero can assassinate any target Alith Anar so desires, with 100% lethal accuracy, before fading once more into the Shadow Realm.

While I can't offer you much more in terms of concrete information, at least not until the update arrives, I can leave you with the recently posted behind-the-scenes video with Alith Anar's voice actor Dylan Sprouse. It's not exactly a long video, but it does have a couple of close-up shots of Alith Anar, so if you're curious make sure to give it a look. Enjoy!
