The Surge 2 official artwork and logo

While The Surge launched as a bit of a buggy take on the Dark Souls gameplay formula, the developers have slowly but surely managed to improve upon it in almost every way. For example, the Walk in the Part expansion brought with it non-linear levels and much more colorful environments, while the more recent free content update added some highly enjoyable weapons and bosses to bash over the head with said weapons.

With that in mind, I am very glad to say that The Surge 2 is following in the same footsteps, as you'll see in the very first gameplay preview down below, courtesy of IGN. Have a gander, it's quite an interesting video despite The Surge 2 still being in early development:

Aside from the usual "everything is going to be bigger and better", I'm afraid very few concrete details are currently available. What I can tell you is that The Surge 2 will have a much greater focus on limb-tearing and targeted destruction, which I can already imagine being a whole lot of fun. Whether we'll actually be able to use the limbs we tear off against the enemies themselves, I have absolutely no idea, but either way it's definitely the sort of direction The Surge 2 should be going towards in order to make its combat more impactful and satisfying.

As for the release date, you can expect to see The Surge 2 on PC and consoles in 2019, though no exact date has been given just yet. Once more information gets revealed I'll make sure to let you know, though you can also keep an eye on the official website for any further updates.
