The Division will have timed exclusive DLC for the Xbox One

If you were looking forward to some The Division post launch content I bring both good and bad news. The good news is that all of the free updates, of which two have been announced so far, will be available simultaneously for the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.

The bad news is that Ubisoft has recently announced that the first two paid expansions will start with one month of Xbox One exclusivity before being released for the PC and PS4. If you're wondering what exactly you're missing out on here's a brief rundown of the paid DLCs:

The first one, titled Underground, will feature a journey through New York's underbelly as you attempt to dislodge the last pockets of resistance from various gangs that once inhabited Manhattan. It was originally going to launch for all platforms in June, but after this unfortunate exclusivity deal the PS4 and PC versions will have to wait till July.

The second expansion, called Survival, brings with it a brand new game mode in to The Division. The aptly named survival mode will leave you stranded somewhere in Manhattan with limited resources but plenty of threats to deal with. To make it out alive you will need to ration your ammunition, scavenge for supplies and sometimes even avoid shooting everyone on sight, a strange concept indeed. This one is set to launch in summer though no specific date has been given yet.

The third and final expansion, Last Stand, is set to arrive in winter for all platforms though once again, no date was given. In the Last Stand you will need to defend your HQ against a new and relentless foe we know very little about. If the recent Division datamining attempts are to be believed the new faction will consist out of either elite military forces or a bunch of madmen that use dogs strapped with C4. A nasty situation either way.

The Division is launching today, March 8th for the PC, Xbox One and PS4, no exclusivity deal on this one. If you're interested, you can find the PC system requirements here and my opinions on the open beta here.
