Overwatch 2 Season 3 artwork of the mythic Kiriko skin

[Update #2]: Overwatch 2 has launched a One-Punch Man crossover event alongside a small balance update.

[Update]: The Overwatch 2 dating sim Loverwatch has now been unleashed, and it's actually quite charming!.

Unlike the previous two seasons, Overwatch 2's freshly launched Season 3 doesn't bring with it a brand new hero. Instead Blizzard has used this opportunity to release a whole bunch of quality-of-life changes and bug fixes, a brand new Control map by the name of Antarctic Peninsula, the Workshop Editor and its accompanying custom game modes, as well as pave the way for a whole host of events that will be going live throughout the season, including a One-Punch Man crossover and even a dating sim!

Speaking of new additions, the most important one is the introduction of Overwatch Credits that can be used to purchase most of the old cosmetics, along with a couple of new ones. You can get 1500 credits for free each season, which is slightly more than what you'll need for a legendary skin, and an additional 500 through the premium Battle Pass.

If you're curious what else resides in the Battle Pass, as well as what the penguin-filled Antarctic Peninsula map has to offer, you'll find the answers you seek in the trailer below:

Naturally, Season 3 has also brought with it a whole host of balance changes, of which the health nerf to tanks in non-Role Queue modes is by far the most impactful since it'll finally stop tank teams from steamrolling some of the more casual-focused game modes. You can read the full list of tweaks over at the Blizzard forums.

The final thing worth mentioning are the two upcoming events. The Loverwatch Dating Sim will be running from February 13-28 and will give you a chance to romance either Mercy or Genji while being assisted by Cupid who looks suspiciously like Hanzo. Besides being a fun little novelty, unlocking the secret ending in Loverwatch will grant you a themed POTG highlight!

On the other hand, if you crave a bit of action there will also be an Ultimate Valentine’s Event running from February 14-28. This one will be a Hanzo 4v4 limited time mode which, much like the previous ones, will let you unlock a couple of fancy cosmetics.

Once these events go live I'll make sure to let you know as I'm quite eager to give them a try myself. Until then, have fun with Season 3!
