MTG Arena artwork for the Torrential Gearhulk card

[Update #2]: MTG Arena's viking themed expansion Kaldheim is launching on January 28, 2021.

[Update]: The Kaladesh Remastered set has now arrived with plenty of Artifacts in tow.

When it comes to MTG Arena's competitive modes, there are two main formats: Standard and Historic. Standard consists only of the most recent sets and is usually a bit lower in power and easier to enter as a beginner, while the Historic format draws from the entire pool of MTG Arena cards, which as you might imagine, means it's the home of the most streamlined and bombastic decks out there.

With that little bit of explanation now out of the way, I'm happy to say that the pool of Historic cards will soon be expanding even further! As a part of its remastered series, MTG Arena will be getting the massive Kaladesh Remastered set this November 12th.

This chunky new set will actually be a combination of two sets, Kaladesh and Aether Revolt, with a couple of cards taken out in order to ensure proper balance. The list of ommited cards includes such classics as Felidar Guardian and Walking Ballista, though also a surprising amount of mediocre or combo cards. I'm not exactly sure why the latter have been left out, but I can only hope it's some kind of visual bug as it would be a real shame to have the remastered set be less than the sum of its two halves.

As for the cards themselves, you can find them nicely sorted by color over at the newly launched card list. Like I said before, some of the cards are obviously missing, but don't despair just yet as they might still pop up over the next few days.

The final thing worth mentioning is that, much like the previous sets, there will be a pre-order pack for Kaladesh Remastered. This one will set you back $30 and will offer you 10 Kaladesh Remastered booster packs, 3 draft tokens, an alternate-art style for Aether Hub, as well as a full playset of Aether Hub cards. Personally, I don't find the pack to be particularly exciting, but I suppose your mileage will vary based on how much you love drafting.

Once the Kaladesh Remastered set arrives I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, however, you can keep an eye on any further announcements over the official website.
