Day of the Tentacle is the sequel to Maniac Mansion (which you can actually play within DotT) and one of the funniest point & click adventures I've had the pleasure to stumble puzzle through.
After initially being announced a few months back it seems that Day of the Tentacle is finally ready to hit the virtual store shelves on March 22nd. Here's the trailer and a bit more info:
The remastered edition of Day of the Tentacle features brand new hand-drawn art as well as updated audio, and for fans of the vanilla experience the ability to switch between the old and new versions of the game with a single flick of a button.
However, the most interesting addition to me is the inclusion of a recorded commentary track with the game's original creators: Tim Schafer, Dave Grossman, Larry Ahern, Peter Chan, Peter McConnell and Clint Bajakian. There's nothing quite like being able to take a peak behind the veil of game development.
So, how exactly does this new and updated art look compared to the original? Rather than describe it, here's a comparison image I've whipped up, I think you'll agree its quite the improvement:
I think we can agree its pretty damn good
Day of the Tentacle: Remastered is coming to Windows, OSX, PS4 and Vita on March 22nd.
Those with the urge to preorder can do so on GOG for 10% off, which brings the price down to €12. If you're a fan of point & clicks I'd suggest you give Day of the Tentacle a try, it certainly hasn't disappointed me when I gave it a spin a few years back.
