Trailer artwork for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night's second character Zangetsu

[Update #2]: Zangetsu has now made his way to Bloodstained alongside a brand new Randomizer game mode.

[Update]: Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has now been officially released and I'm glad to say it's received good reviews so far!

One of the Kickstarter goals for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night was to create a spin-off game that's heavily inspired by the original Castlevania series. The aforementioned Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon ended up not only being created remarkably quickly, but it also turned out to be a genuinely good Castlevania game with some fun characters to mess around with!

With that in mind, you might be interested to hear that Curse of the Moon's swordsman Zangetsu will be making his way into Ritual of the Night as the second of the three playable characters! Here's a brief teaser showing off what he looks like, as well as who his voice actor is:

Yep, that is actually David Hayter - the voice of Snake from the Metal Gear series! As for Zangetsu as a character, no much is known so far, but given his role in Curse of the Moon I think it's safe to say he's going to be primarily focused on melee combat, while his grappling hook will add some much-needed mobility.

When it comes to the third playable character, even less is currently known. According to the most recent developer update, however, it will be a character not a single one of us will ever be able to guess. In other words, expect to see an entirely new character, perhaps one that's focused primarily on spellcasting as that's still a niche that hasn't been filled.

Whatever the case may be, I'll make sure to let you know when he or she get announced. Until then, you might want to check out the newly improved visuals as they really are a massive step forward for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night!
