[Update]: Apex Legends' 2020 Halloween event is launching with a spruced up 'Shadow Royale' mode!

Apex Legends' Season 3 update has only just arrived, and already Respawn has unleashed a new dose of content. This time around we're not talking about a new map or legend, however, but rather about a variety of new cosmetics and a rather interesting Halloween themed game mode.

Shadowfall, the new game mode, is a free-for-all deathmatch that takes place in an appropriately spooky version of Kings Canyon. Things start off fairly familiar with you and 34 other solo players dropping across the map, but once the bloodbath begins the whole game mode will take on an entirely different tone.

You see, instead of playing nice and staying dead, each of the fallen players will rise as a powerful zombie that only has one goal in mind - to hunt down the survivors! While they will lose access to their weapons and abilities, zombie players will have a drastically increased movement speeds and an equally ridiculous melee attack, all on top of the ability to infinitely respawn. So if you're a living player, do make sure to take them down before they reach you!

Once the zombie team has swelled in numbers and there are only ten living players, the Shadowfall mode will once again shake things up. At this point the living players will need to band together and make their way to an evacuation ship, while the zombie players will need to do everything in their power to prevent this from happening. A simple enough premise, but also a highly enjoyable one as you don't always get to see these types of large-scale battles in Apex Legends!

You can learn a little bit more about this Halloween event, as well as the Shadowfall game mode, over at the official website. Have fun, and I'll leave you with the recently posted trailer:
