[Update #2]: Season 5 has now arrived with a whole bunch of changes in tow, including a rather excellent rework of Mirage!

[Update]: The newest Season 5 preview is all about the new trickster Loba and her abilities.

After a slight delay due to the pandemic, Apex Legends' Season 5 will be launching this May 12th alongside a bunch of new content. Expect to see a brand new Legend by the name of Loba, a rather drastic redesign of Kings Canyon that will see Skull Town and Thunderdome sink into the sea, a brand new battle pass and a variety of new cosmetics, as well as the very first story quests.

These quests will be a great way to delve into the lore behind Apex Legends, while also offering players a chance for some co-op action instead of the usual PvP mayhem. There will be nine quests in total for Season 5, each one further exploring Loba's motivations and endless quest for vengeance against the nigh-immortal Revenant. Here's a brief summary from the announcement post:

"Caught between the Apex Games and Hammond Robotics, Loba is spinning a web of lies and deceit in her personal quest for vengeance… but how far is she willing to go? How does the Broken Ghost fit into her plans for Revenant? And what happens when one Legend stumbles upon the truth?

See a side of the Legends’ lives you’ve never seen before... outside of the Games! Alliances will be formed, friendships will be tested, vendettas will be born, and when the dust settles, nothing will be the same again in a mystery that has far-reaching consequences for them all."

The way you unlock these quests is pretty simple, albeit a bit slow. Every single day you will be able to loot one Treasure Pack in any of the main game modes (Duos, Trios, Limited-Time Modes and Ranked), and once you've managed to collect five, you'll be able to unlock a PvE-focused Hunt that will have you retrieve pieces of a mysterious artifact.

You can brave these Hunts with a group or alone, but you'll only be able to get the rewards if you've unlocked the mission itself. The exact rewards haven't been revealed just yet, but expect to see an exclusive weapon charm, plenty of delicious lore, as well as something special once you've managed to complete every single mission.

While the Treasure Packs needed to unlock Hunts are time-gated, there thankfully doesn't appear to be too big of a rush given that the very first Hunt will only become available on May 19th. So even if you end up skipping a couple of days every now and then, you should still be able to progress without too much trouble.
