[Update #2]: Deep Rock Galactic's massive mod support update has now been unleashed!

[Update]: Deep Rock Galactic has now added elite enemies, a ton of balance changes, and improved gunplay.

Once it arrives this April 22nd, Deep Rock Galactic's next major update will bring with it the long-awaited weapon rebalance, a bunch of elite enemy variants, as well as additional difficulty modifiers for those of you that enjoy a bit of a challenge. The update was also supposed to add a bunch of quality-of-life changes and improvements to Deep Rock Galactic's mod support, though sadly that has now been delayed.

"We know that some of you were worried initially that needing a separate save game for mods would make playing with mods a frustrating experience," explains the brief developer update. "And when we removed that requirement, some of you were worried that the ranks and promotions you had worked so hard to achieve would be indistinguishable from those of players that just boosted their ranks through modding shortcuts."

"We completely understand both these concerns. We also share them. The goal is still the same: Playing with mods should be a fun and safe experience, and not dilute the hard work and dedication that you have put into your ranks. That is why we have decided to postpone modding support from Update 34 and release it on its own in Update 34.5 later."

While I'm sure there's a million different factors at play here that make this decision quite tricky, I'd personally just make it so modded missions offer no rewards and call it a day. This way people that enjoy modded content can do just that while benefiting from a variety of quality-of-life improvements, while those that prefer to stick to the vanilla experience can continue to do so without being impacted in any way.

Whether that is something Ghost Ship Games will go for, however, only time will tell. Once they do release an update on all of this I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a little bit more about the April 22nd patch over at Steam. Enjoy!
