After two years in Early Access it appears that Clockwork Empires, a colony management sim from the developers behind Dungeons of Dredmor, is just about ready to be officially released. Since this is Gaslamp Games we're talking about, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Clockwork Empires isn't your standard management sim. Sure, you'll need to actually make certain that your tiny colony survives the harsh winters and scorching summers, but you'll also need to deal with cannibalistic cults, Lovecraftian horrors, and other such spawns of madness - because living in the middle of the wilderness just isn't exciting enough!

I can already imagine the confused looks on some of your faces, so allow me to show you one of the teaser trailers for Clockwork Empires. While it won't give you an amazing idea of what the gameplay is all about, it will help you understand the bizarre world of Clockwork Empires:

I've never actually played Star Wars: The Old Republic beyond the starting zone, mostly because the combat just doesn't gel with me, but when it comes to the cinematics I am a massive fan! The video Bioware prepared for the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion still remains one of the best pieces of Star Wars fiction I've seen outside of the movies, and the most recent cinematic trailer for Knights of the Eternal Throne isn't far off either.

Without spoiling too much, the video below deals with the most common theme in all of humanity - betrayal - something that apparently still runs deep in the royal families of the far distant future. Have a look, its well worth the 6 minutes it takes to watch:

If you're fan of games that don't hold back their punches, but also of copious amounts of pixelated blood and other bodily fluids adorning all of the nearby walls, you might be interested in the recently released Butcher. Its a fast-paced, Doom-inspired 2D shooter that features about as much gore and violence as you could possibly cram into tiny pixelated artwork.

Now I'm sure some of you are thinking I'm exaggerating here, I mean how violent can a 2D shooter truly be, in which case I would like to present you exhibit A - the launch trailer. Have a look:

If you're a fan of game design, or are simply curios about what exactly goes into the creation of a Hearthstone Adventure, you're in luck as Blizzard has just recently posted a rather interesting article on just that topic. It concerns the most recent Hearthstone Adventure, Kharazan, and its most memorable boss - the chess encounter!

If you're a fan of stylish puzzle-platformers, especially those that rely on time manipulation to add an extra edge to their challenges, you might want to keep an eye out for Clockwork - a game about a lonely mechanical boy and his magical, time-bending watch adventuring across a variety of steampunk-inspired levels.

Since a picture is worth a thousand words, and a video probably even more than that, allow me to show you one of the more recent trailers. It should give you the best idea of what Clockwork really is, and more importantly, if its the sort of thing you'd be interested in. Have a look:

For those of you of that might not have been paying attention, ReCore released last month to some rather mediocre reviews. While there are numerous problems with the gameplay, the biggest reason for such a lukewarm reception have been the technical issues - most notably the extreme loading times, annoying glitches, and frequent crashes.

Thankfully, the developers haven't been slacking off the past few week as they have just recently updated ReCore with a whole bunch of improvements. You can expect to see decreased loading times, improved enemy textures, the ability to die without the game going completely haywire, and various other little fixes and additions. Since there aren't any actual patch notes, mostly because this was a purely technical update, allow me to share with you what the developers wanted to accomplish with this patch:

If you've never had the opportunity to witness the glory of the Dark Souls series, consider yourself extremely lucky as you can now grab most of it for a relatively small price. And best of all, Dark Souls 1 and 2 come with all of the DLC packs included, so if you're looking to get the most value out of your money the Souls series is a safe bet!

So what are we looking at here? You can grab the full version of Dark Souls 1 at a 75% discount which brings the price down to $5/€5; the remastered version of Dark Souls 2 at the same discount for $10/€10; and finally you can grab the base version of Dark Souls 3 at a 35% discount for $39/€39. Since the DLC for Dark Souls 3 hasn't even come out yet, there is unfortunately no discount available, but I wouldn't worry too much about that as Dark Souls 3 has plenty of content in it as is.
