The Witcher 3 HD texture mod update brings improvements to rock textures and more

With the post-Christmas lull in full effect and nothing of importance happening I opted to use a bit of my time and see what mods to grab for a new playthrough of The Witcher 3.

And as luck would have it the most popular HD texture mod, The Witcher 3 HD Reworked Project by Halk Hogan PL, recently got a major update that makes the open world of the Witcher 3 even prettier so I felt I should showcase it to you if you don't frequent modding sites yourself.

First things first, if you're interested in running the mod without any performance issues it appears that the key factor is the amount of VRAM your card and then raw power so even if you have a mediocre card with 3 GB of VRAM you should be completely fine.

I would love to test the performance for you myself but I'm away from the "big boy" PC while visiting my family so I'm afraid that won't be happening any time soon. Luckily the mod isn't large in size, totaling only at 77 MB so if you opt to test it for yourself it won't waste too much of your time. The installation instructions are a fairly simple procedure as well:

Download the mod archive from here (You will need a nexus mods account) and extract the "modHDReworkedProject" folder to "(Witcher 3 game folder)/mods" and if the "mods" folder doesn't exist, create it yourself. To remove it simply delete the folder you added and you're done.

While I'm unable to make a video on the mod I did take the liberty of combining two images together so you can more easily see what the differences are.

Witcher 3 HD texture mod makes rock and graphics in general look amazing

As you can see, even on a slightly compressed image the difference is wast

And if you want to make the Witcher 3 lighting look more like in the old trailers then take a look at the Super Turbo Lighting Mod (yes, that's the actual name) I showcased a little while ago. That one also promises a very minimal impact on performance and is extremely small in size so give it a try, you might enjoy what you see.

Finally, here's the mod creator's video showcasing the latest mod update and what sort of graphics you can expect to see though keep in mind youtube is going to garble quite a bit of the quality and fine details so the actual mod in-game will look significantly better.
