[Update]: Volition's big Saints Row reboot has now arrived, though not without a fair bit of criticism.

If you were hoping to get your hands on the big Saints Row reboot early next year, I'm afraid you're going to have to wait for a while longer. According to the newest developer update, Saints Row has been pushed back from its February 25, 2022 release date all the way to August 23, 2022.

"Our priority is to create the best Saints Row game yet and, if we released on the original date, it wouldn’t be up to the standards we’ve set ourselves, and that you’re expecting and deserve," the update explains. "The team just need more time to do our vision justice; we’re doing some fine tuning and there won’t be much change in the game outside of overall quality and polish."

"As mentioned when we announced Saints Row in August, this will be the biggest and best Saints Row game ever and, in order to achieve our goal, we’ve settled upon a generous, yet essential amount of time to realise our ambitions. Rest assured, there will not be any changes to the story or the characters or anything that we’ve lovingly imagined over the last few years and already shared with you."

While I fully understand their need to delay Saints Row, especially after the initial trailer got such a negative response, I must admit I'm quite surprised with them offering such a specific new release date. Even the most well managed projects end up hitting some snags here and there throughout development, so unless the August 23rd launch is already an extremely generous guess, I honestly won't be too surprised if Saints Row ends up eventually being pushed back another couple of weeks.

Whatever the case may be, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, however, you can read a little bit more about the whole delay over at the Saints Row website.
