[Update #2]: Enchanter's Lair, the grand finale of the Curse of Drachenfels trilogy, has now been released alongside the best boss fight so far.

[Update]: The newly released update has removed Beastmen from the Blood in the Darkness map, as well as slightly nerfed their overall power.

A short while ago, Vermintide 2 developer Fatshark announced that they will be adding three new (and entirely free) maps throughout Season 2. The first of the trio, Old Haunts, released alongside the Season 2 update and was heavily inspired by the original game's Castle Drachenfels DLC. Needless to say, it ended up being a pretty good map.

With that in mind, I'm sure you'll be glad to hear that the second map has not only just arrived, but that it is even better than the first! So if you're in the mood for interrupting yet another dastardly Chaos ritual, do make sure to give the newly added Blood in the Darkness map a try!

Things are indeed both dark and bloody!

Besides the free new map, this update has also added a couple of new cosmetic hats to the in-game store. These can be bought with shillings, the in-game currency earned through daily and weekly quests, though their increased price tag will mean it'll likely take you quite a while to acquire them.

The good news, or bad news depending on perspective, is that most of the new hats aren't anything special. The only one I would even consider truly interesting would be the Pyromancer one as it breaks the tradition of Sienna simply getting more candles as a part of her cosmetic items. Whether even that is actually worth multiple weeks of daily quests, that I'll leave for you to decide.

[Update]: After overwhelmingly negative responses to the new cosmetics and their hefty price tag, Fatshark is now looking to replace them with five weapon skins. If you've already bought the new hats, then expect to see them removed from your account and the entire purchase refunded in the near future. As for the hats themselves, they'll come back at a later date, though at a reduced price.
