[Update]: Aperture Desk Job has now been unleashed, and unsurprisingly it's a short but fun experience.

After going through a brief delay, Valve's much-anticipated Steam Deck handheld PC will start shipping on February 28th. So in order to highlight some of its features, as well as to help everyone get acquainted with the controls, Valve will be releasing the free Aperture Desk Job 'game' on March 1, 2022.

While it will be set within the Aperture Science facility from the Portal series, it's important to mention that Aperture Desk Job will not be Portal 3 or anything of the sorts. Instead, it's going to be a simple yet amusing tech demo showcasing what the Steam Deck is capable of.

"Desk Job reimagines the been-there-done-that genre of walking simulators and puts them in the lightning-spanked, endorphin-gorged world of sitting still behind things," reads the brief description. "You play as an entry-level nobody on their first day at work— your heart full of hope and your legs full of dreams, eager to climb that corporate ladder. But life's got other plans, and they all involve chairs."

If you're curious what this madhouse might look like in action, wonder no more as Valve has released a very short preview. Have a gander, it's as charming as anything Portal related:

Once Aperture Desk Job becomes available I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can learn a tiny bit more about it, as well as potentially invest in a blockbuster screenplay, over at Steam.
