The Division is currently celebrating its second anniversary and 20 million players with a variety of Global Events. I honestly can't say I expect it to succeed, especially given the fairly mediocre early reception, but Ubisoft actually listened to criticism and slowly but surely shaped The Division into quite an enjoyable game. A truly amazing turn-around for what could've been just another AAA cash-in!

With that in mind, I am very glad to say that Ubisoft has now announced that The Division 2 is currently in development. The project is being led by Massive Entertainment, though they will also be collaborating with Ubisoft Reflections, Red Storm Entertainment, Ubisoft Annecy, Ubisoft Shanghai and Ubisoft Bucharest. Quite frankly that's a ridiculous amount of studios to be working on one game, and so I can only hope that Massive will be able to get their vision across as otherwise The Division 2 might end up being highly unfocused.

On the more interesting side of things, Ubisoft has also revealed that The Division 2 will be powered by an updated version of the Snowdrop engine. According to the brief announcement this should give the team the ability to realize all of their ideas, and perhaps most importantly, take everything they've learned from the past two years and implement it into the sequel from the very beginning.

I would love to offer you more, but that's pretty much it as far as new information is concerned. To learn more we're all going to have to wait until E3 2018 this June as The Division 2 is going to have a large presence.

And finally, if you're currently playing The Division, make sure to complete the various new "Shield" achievements once they arrive since they will grant you special rewards in The Division 2. What exactly those rewards are going to be, nobody currently knows, but extra 'stuff' is always nice to have!
