Total War: Warhammer 3 artwork for the Tzeentch faction

[Update]: The latest gameplay preview offers a closer look at a siege battle between Tzeentch (attackers) and Cathay (defenders).

The day has finally come! After a whole bunch of teasers, and a little bit of controversy sprinkled in for good measure, Creative Assembly has now finally unveiled the armies of Tzeentch, as well as the crazy campaign mechanics one would expect from the god of magic and deceit.

First things first, allow me to set the mood by sharing the brief in-game trailer highlighting just what sort of adorable monstrosities you'll get to play around with. Have a gander:

As for the freshly revealed campaign mechanics, I'm happy to say that they seem to be very well suited for the self-titled architect of fate. Basically, by collecting an assortment of forbidden texts throughout the world the Tzeentch faction can drastically change the fate of the mortal races. You can transfer ownership of a settlement to yourself or a completely different faction, force rebellions, reveal AI intentions, give war co-oordination targets to factions even if you're not their ally, and most excitingly of all, break alliances and force wars between factions!

Tzeentch will also be able to manipulate the flow of the winds of magic, increasing it one area and decreasing it in another. What this means in gameplay terms is that you will be able to field multiple spellcasters per army without worrying too much about running out of juice, and needless to say, those spellcasters are going to be some of the best around.

All of your army-leading Lords will be similarly adept at magic and will be able to unlock an assortment of powerful abilities through either technology or special unlocks. One of these is the teleportation stance that will severely limit your winds of magic reserve in battle, but will in turn give you the ability to travel freely, completely ignoring impassable terrain like mountain ranges and rivers. And if you teleport directly onto an enemy, you will instantly get an ambush battle against them!

Everything I've mentioned is just the tip of the iceberg, so if you're curious about what Tzeentch (and the other Chaos gods) will have to offer in Total War: Warhammer 3, you should check out the newest developer update. Enjoy!
