Total War: Warhammer 2 artwork for Settra the Imperishable from the Tomb Kings DLC

After a variety of 'subtle' hints and teasers, Creative Assembly has now finally announced Total War: Warhammer 2's very first faction DLC. As you might expect, the new faction will be the chariot and monster focused Tomb Kings, a fan-favorite that has been requested ever since Total War: Warhammer 1 first made its way onto Steam.

Unlike the previous faction packs, however, the Tomb Kings will bring with them a bit more content. You can expect to see a variety of new units including four new Legendary Lords, unique campaign mechanics that revolve around the cursed Books of Nagash, their very own resources and research options, and naturally, a whole host of new battlefield strategies. The recently posted trailer won't exactly tell you much about the gameplay, but if you're just wondering what the Tomb Kings have to offer I think it'll do quite nicely. Have a look, it's a fun video:

If you would like to go into more details I would highly recommend you head on over to Steam. Creative Assembly has done an excellent job highlighting all of the Legendary Lords and unique mechanics, so you should get a pretty damn good idea of what the Tomb Kings will play like. As for the release date, you can expect to see Rise of the Tomb Kings on January 23rd.

Besides the Tomb Kings, the January update will also bring with it a variety of balance changes and bug fixes, as well as a brand new Skaven Legendary Lord. This part of the update will be entirely free, though I'm afraid no actual details have been released just yet. The one thing I can tell you, however, is that Norsca and its accompanying 30 Regiments or Renown will not be making their way to Total War: Warhammer 2 until May due to technical issues. A real shame since Norsca is a great faction, but at least we'll have Tomb Kings to play around with for a while.
