Total War: Troy official artwork and logo

[Update]: Total War: Troy has been unleashed, and it is indeed entirely free to grab for the first 24 hours!

Instead of sticking to Steam like the rest of the series, Total War: Troy will be launching exclusively for the Epic Games Store this August 13th. The Steam version, as is often the case with these kinds of deals, will be arriving a year later once the exclusivity period has gone by.

While that might be a bit controversial, I do have one bit of purely positive news - Total War: Try will be entirely free to grab for 24 hours after launch! So whether you're a fan of Total War games and interested in seeing what Troy does differently, or a complete newcomer to the series, I'd still highly recommend taking Creative Assembly up on their offer and getting Troy free of charge!

The good news doesn't end there, however, as Creative Assembly has announced another piece of free content - the Amazons. Once the all-female sect of warriors arrive at some point this September, you'll be able to grab them for free through Total War Access, much like some of the Total War: Warhammer 2 free DLCs.

You can learn a little bit more about this, as well as the future of the Total War series in general, over at the latest developer update. Enjoy, and don't forget to mark August 13th on your calendar!
