[Update #2]: Total War: Troy's Amazons DLC is charging in on September 24th and will be free for two weeks!

[Update]: Newest Troy update has improved performance and nerfed both chariots and army-destroying spies.

In a bit of a divergence from the rest of the series, Total War: Troy has now been released exclusively for the Epic Games Store. Even more shockingly than that, Creative Assembly has announced that Troy will be entirely free to grab for 24 hours after launch!

All you have to do is head on over to the Epic Games Store, claim yourself a copy, and you'll be good to go. You don't even need to install it right away. As long as Troy is added to your account, you'll be able to play it whenever you want and for however long you want.

When it comes to the actual gameplay and visuals, you can get a pretty good impression of what Troy has to offer through the two of the recent trailers. The first is the launch trailer setting up some of the characters and storylines, while the second is a more gameplay-focused preview. Have a peek:

The good news doesn't end there as there is another piece of free content coming in the near future - the Amazons DLC. The all-female sect of warriors will be arriving at some point this September, and much like Troy itself, you'll be able to grab them free of charge. The only thing you'll need to do is link your Total War Access account to your Epic Account, a process that is currently a bit buggy, and the Amazons will be yours on launch day.

To learn more about Total War: Troy, as well as keep an eye on any upcoming announcements, you should head on over to the official website. Have fun!
