Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem screenshot of the enemies

[Update]: Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem has now arrived, and so far it's looking like a shorter and slightly improved version of Serious Sam 4.

Developed by a group of Serious Sam modders under the newly formed Timelock Studio, the upcoming Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem is a standalone expansion for Serious Sam 4. As you might expect, this means that Siberian Mayhem will bring with it hordes upon hordes of enemies to gun down, a variety of over-the-top weapons to do it with, as well as a bunch of massive maps to meander around in.

What all of this looks like in actual gameplay, however, that you can find out through the freshly posted and rather lengthy developer preview. Have a gander:

If Siberian Mayhem continues with this approach and ends up being like Serious Sam 4, just with better level design and pacing, I can definitely see it being a pretty darn good time. The only thing I'm unhappy with so far are the health bars on enemies as monsters in Serious Sam don't tend to live long enough to need them, so all they really add is a bit of visual clutter. So while I'd like to see them gone, or at least an in-game option you can tweak, it's not exactly a dealbreaker.

Once Serious Sam: Siberian Mayhem arrives onto PC this January 25th I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can read a little bit more about it over at Steam.
