[Update]: Insomniac has now released a new trailer highlighting the story and visuals!

While VR has some impressive games, very few of them are truly visually stunning given the already immense hardware requirements. With that in mind, I am very pleased to announce that Insomnic Games' upcoming VR adventure Stormlands belongs to that rather exclusive group.

Besides simply ogling the world, Stormlands will allow you quite a bit of freedom when it comes to actually exploring it. You can choose to run from location to location, fly through slipstreams, bounce of ramps, scale sheer cliffs, and even glide through the air despite being a somewhat rusty robot! If you're wondering what all of this craziness might look like in-game, here's the recently posted E3 trailer. Have a gander:

Given that you are in fact a robot, you will also be able to further augment your abilities, as well as acquire new ones by 'borrowing' parts from your enemies. Expect to see a cloaking device, a personal shielding system, an ability to harness electricity as a weapon, and the list goes on. Long story short, Stormlands looks like a 'proper' VR game, and if it ends up being just as good as it looks, it's going to have a massive impact on VR as a whole!

Unfortunately, we'll have to wait for quite a while in order to find out whether that's the case as Stormlands will be coming to Oculus Rift at some point in 2019. You can learn a bit more, as well as follow its development moving forward, over at the official website.
