Knights of the Eternal Throne artwork featuring a battle between mother and daughter

I've never actually played Star Wars: The Old Republic beyond the starting zone, mostly because the combat just doesn't gel with me, but when it comes to the cinematics I am a massive fan! The video Bioware prepared for the Knights of the Fallen Empire expansion still remains one of the best pieces of Star Wars fiction I've seen outside of the movies, and the most recent cinematic trailer for Knights of the Eternal Throne isn't far off either.

Without spoiling too much, the video below deals with the most common theme in all of humanity - betrayal - something that apparently still runs deep in the royal families of the far distant future. Have a look, its well worth the 6 minutes it takes to watch:

While I'm sure this trailer was supposed to get me excited for the upcoming SWTOR expansion, I can't help but lament the fact that such intriguing storylines are locked away behind MMO gameplay. Could you imagine how amazing a modern Knights of the Old Republic game would be if it attempted to tackle these types of grand storylines with all of the technology and developer experience we have today?

My musings aside, if you would like to play the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion three days ahead of its official launch - you can do so by being a Premium player (aka subscribing to the game) continuously from October 25 - November 27. If your account is eligible you will be able to venture into the new zones on November 29, with everyone else getting a chance to jump in a mere three days later.

And finally, if you're interested in learning more about SWTOR, but more importantly about the Knights of the Eternal Throne expansion, I would recommend you head over here.
