[Update]: Shovel Knight devs are working on a new 8-bit action-adventure - Mina the Hollower!

Deciding on a course of action, especially one that will consume the next two years of your life, is an impossibly difficult decision, so it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to hear that Yacht Club is looking for community suggestions on what to develop next.

Since simply asking the question in an online forum would be a disastrously terrible idea, the devs opted to instead go with a simple poll where you get to rate how excited you are about certain concepts. There's 12 concepts in total, and I'm happy to say that every single one of them is an idea well worth exploring!

There's the obvious Shovel Knight 2, but also a multiplayer-only side-scrolling prequel, and even a Shovel Kart game! Outside of the Shovel realm we have games that take inspiration from some of the most popular series around. You can vote for either a new Mega Man, Metroid, Mario, Zelda, Spelunky, Final Fantasy, Mario RPG, Contra, but also a Landstalker isometric action adventure.

Personally, I'd prefer it if the developers simply went with what they feel most passionate about, as that would likely result in the best game for everyone to enjoy. Buuuut, if I had to chose, it would without a doubt be a new Metroid, because the world could use more games focused around exploration and the use of specialized, but still ridiculous weaponry.

Naturally, whatever game the team decides to work on will be done in a retro graphical style, so if you were hoping for a Witcher 3 inspired RPG, I'm afraid you're out of luck.
