[Update]: Shovel Knight's dungeon-digging roguelite spin-off Shovel Knight Dig is set to arrive on September 23rd, 2022.

After finally finishing up all of the extra content planned for Shovel Knight, the Yacht Club Games team has now set their sights on their next big action-adventure - Mina the Hollower. According to the already-funded Kickstarter, Mina the Hollower will be an 8-bit trip down memory lane inspired by classics like Castlevania, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening, and apparently even Bloodborne!

What all of this might look like in actual gameplay, that you can find out through the freshly posted announcement trailer. Have a gander, it's just as charming as Shovel Knight:

Considering how much love and care Yacht Club Games poured into Shovel Knight over the years, I have absolutely no doubt that Mina the Hollower will end up being great fun as well, especially considering the gameplay shown so far. If anything, I'm more worried about them going overboard with the stretch goals again and taking a good chunk of the next decade getting them all ready to go!

As for the release date, I'm afraid nothing concrete has been announced just yet. The Kickstarter has December 2023 as a rough estimate, though that sounds more like a placeholder than anything else, while Steam has a completely vague "coming soon" marker. In other words, I would recommend against getting too excited for the time being as it's likely going to be quite a wait before we can all get our hands on Mina the Hollower.

Once more information becomes available, most likely a month or two after the Kickstarter has been fully finished, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, you can learn more about Mina the Hollower over at the official website.
