[Update]: It took a while for this announcement to arrive, but Remedy Entertainment is now also working on Control 2!

Today has been a pretty good day as far as ancient classics go. Ron Gilbert has announced that he's working on a brand new Monkey Island game, and now Remedy Entertainment has revealed that they are remaking both the original Max Payne and its sequel Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne!

The remakes will be developed on the Northlight engine (Control, Quantum Break) and will be released as a single game. As for the launch platforms, right now it looks like Max Payne 1 & 2 will be arriving onto PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Most importantly, the budget for the remakes will be "in line with a typical Remedy AAA-game production", so I think it's safe to say we can expect a high standard of quality.

I'd love to tell you more, but sadly that's pretty much it for the time being. In fact, much like the somewhat recently announced Project Vanguard, we're unlikely to hear more news about Max Payne for quite a while as the remakes are currently still in the concept development stage.

Once that changes, I'll make sure to let you know. Until then, consider giving the originals a try as the story holds up rather well.
