[Update]: Path of Exile's latest update has now arrived with loot-filled vaults and daring heists.

Path of Exile's updates, especially the recent ones, are anything but predictable! Last time around Grinding Gear Games introduced farming (the plant kind) as a way of gathering new items and resources, while the upcoming patch is promising devious team-based heists on vaults filled with ancient treasures!

In the appropriately titled Heist update you'll need to first discover the location of a valuable artifact and the defenses that safeguard it. Once you have all of the details, you'll be able to hire skilled thieves and specialists in order to help you bypass the traps, avoid the patrols, and steal everything that isn't thoroughly nailed down!

Should you cause too much commotion, however, an alarm will trigger and send the entire facility into lockdown. Once this happens your only option is to run away as fast as you can because, sooner or later, you will get overwhelmed and either die or lose every single bit of loot you acquired. Either way, I'd recommend trying to avoid tripping the alarms!

As for what exactly all of this madness looks like in gameplay terms, that you can find out through the recently posted developer update. Have a gander, it's a pretty fun update:

Besides the whole thievery business, the Heist update will also add six new spells, rework and rebalance a whole bunch of existing ones, and naturally, add an assortment of new items to collect. You can find all of the details, as well as get a sneak peek at some of the new spells, over at the official website.

Best of all, you won't have to wait all that long in order to get your hands on the Heist update as it will be launching this September 18th on PC, and September 23rd on consoles!
