[Update #2]: Inspired by this balance experiment, Overwatch has added bouncing arrows for Hanzo and a mid-air roll for Cassidy.

[Update]: Overwatch's annual Winter Wonderland 2021 event is set to arrive on December 16th.

If you're looking for an excuse to dive back into Overwatch, the most recent update would be a pretty good one. In collaboration with various community members, Blizzard has just unleashed some absolutely ridiculous and highly entertaining balance changes onto the Experimental game mode.

The changes include things like giving Hanzo the ability to ricochet storm arrows, making pilot D.Va's melee attack do more damage than Reinhardt's hammer, allowing Lucio to goomba-stomp enemies while using his ultimate, and the list goes on for a while. You can check out the full extent of the changes over at the Overwatch website.

Needless to say, the intent behind many of these tweaks is not to create a more balanced game, but rather to simply have fun with outlandish concepts and gameplay styles. So while some of the adjustments might make an appearance in the future, perhaps even in Overwatch 2, for the most part I'd say that the Experimental update will definitely not be making its way to the live version of Overwatch.

So turn off your competitive mindset, pick your favorite heroes, and give the new game mode a try. It really is a blast!
