No Man's Sky's Outlaws update artwork

[Update #2]: No Man’s Sky's Update 4.0 is all about fine-tuning your gameplay experience and level of challenge.

[Update]: No Man's Sky's July Endurance update has overhauled freighters and added strange organic frigates.

No Man's Sky's previous Sentinel update overhauled ground combat and added new robotic AI companions, and now the freshly released Outlaws update has done something very similar for space combat! As such, you're now able to recruit roaming pilots into your squadron, manage and train them to improve their skills and efficiency, and then have them accompany you in large-scale battles or simply to watch the fancy new destruction effects for ships, asteroids, freighters and space cargo.

There are now also outlaw stations scattered throughout the galaxy, completely devoid of any authority or protection. While potentially dangerous, these outlaw stations are a great place to acquire new technology, trade with contraband items, as well as undertake a variety of new missions. And if you're so inclined, you can also attempt to smuggle some of these ill-gotten goods to other systems for a large profit... provided you can manage to avoid getting caught by the Sentinel authorities!

If you prefer the less violent side of life, it's also worth mentioning that the Outlaws update has added cloth physics simulation along with fancy new capes and hoods, as well as the rather beautiful solar starships to uncover. What these look like in action, as well as what the improved space combat is all about, that you can get a sneak peek at through the brief trailer below:

There's a whole bunch of other changes and additions sprinkled throughout, so if you're interested in every single thing the Outlaws update has to offer, you can find out more over at the No Man's Sky website.

Much like last time, Hello Games are also celebrating the release of the new update with a short sale. So if you ever wanted to see what all of the fuss is about, now would be a pretty good time to do so as No Man's Sky will be 50% off on Steam until April 21st, 2022.

Have fun!
