MTG artwork for one of the new cards from the Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate set

[Update #2]: The April 2022 Streets of New Capenna set is all about demons, gangsters and demon gangsters.

[Update]: MTG Arena's April 7th Alchemy update will buff Elves, Warriors and Equipment.

After releasing two fairly small content updates for the new and digital-only Alchemy format, Wizards of the Coast is now looking to take things to the next level. As such, once it arrives this July the Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate set will bring with it hundreds of new cards to play around with, a new draft environment to explore, as well as the first non-Standard Mastery Pass.

While the exact contents of Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate have not been revealed just yet, you can expect to see an assortment of cards directly taken from Commander Legends: Battle at Baldur's Gate, a bunch of cards from the same set digitally rebalanced for 1v1 play, as well as brand new Dungeons & Dragons themed cards. Similarly the list of formats hasn't been announced yet, but I think it's safe to say these cards will be legal in Alchemy, Historic and Historic Brawl.

Out of all the new additions, I must admit I'm the most excited about seeing a non-Standard draft set. Doubly so if Wizards of the Coast goes all-out with Alchemy Horizons: Baldur's Gate and makes it a draft set where you build your deck around a commander! That would certainly be something new for MTG Arena, and given how fun Historic Brawl is, something quite entertaining as well!

Once more information becomes available, ideally alongside a full card list, I'll make sure to let you know. For now, however, you can read a few more bits and pieces about MTG's future over at the official website.
