[Update]: The Adventures in the Forgotten Realms expansion has now arrived with 261 cards in tow!

Over the past few years MTG Arena has seen numerous bans in both the Standard and Historic formats. While some of these cards like Cauldron Familiar were situationally powerful and only really banned because of how overrepresented they were, there were also cards like Omnath, Locus of Creation or Oko, Thief of Crowns that were so ridiculously strong that they immediately warped the game around them.

The latter category is the one we'll be talking about today as MTG Arena has just brought in the Mirror Mirror event! To put it simply, from today until July 6th you'll be able to create any Historic deck regardless of your collection and mess around with rebalanced versions of twelve of the most powerful banned cards in MTG Arena!

For example, when entering the battlefield Omnath, Locus of Creation now has "Scry 1" rather than "Draw a card", while Teferi, Time Raveler's mana cost has been changed from 1WU to 2WU, and his starting loyalty from 4 to 5. So while the cards are still remarkably powerful and well worth constructing decks around, they thankfully won't just smother any and all competition.

Best of all, even if you don't particularly care about the rebalanced cards, you can still use this event as a testing ground to see how a variety of different Historic decks face off against somewhat serious opponents. And for a free event, that's a pretty good deal!

You can learn more about the Mirror, Mirror event, as well as check out the list of rebalanced cards, over at the MTG Arena website. Have fun!
