Adventures in the Forgotten Realms artwork for the MTG Arena expansion

[Update #2]: MTG Arena is soon adding a bunch of Modern Horizons 1 and 2 cards, alongside 31 brand new ones.

[Update]: MTG Arena is temporarily banning The Book of Exalted Deeds in the Standard 2022 mode.

After a few rounds of teasers, MTG Arena has now finally unleashed the Dungeons & Dragons themed Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set. The new expansion brings with it 261 cards spread across all rarities, many of which are focused around dungeons, dragons, and unsurprisingly, rolling a whole bunch of d20s!

Much like the previous sets, the expansion has launched alongside Premier and Traditional Draft, as well as both normal and Traditional Sealed! So whether you're a fan of best-of-one or best-of-three formats, you should be covered. As for the always-popular Quick Draft, that one will be coming in two weeks.

Personally, I would recommend draft over sealed as Adventures in the Forgotten Realms has a lot of incredibly powerful and incredibly useless cards at Rare and Mythic. Because of this your luck while opening your Sealed pack will heavily dictate the quality of your deck, which isn't exactly ideal.

After all, if your opponent gets some of the awesome dragons while you get nonsense like Flumph, that's not going to go over well! Draft on the other hand allows you to hand-pick your deck and focus on smaller synergies between commons and uncommons, which while not as exciting as massive dragons, is a surefire way to get a fully functional and enjoyable deck out of the whole ordeal.

But whatever your choice may be, make sure to first familiarize yourself with all of the cards before diving in. You can check out the full list, all neatly sorted by color, over at the MTG website.

Have fun, and good luck in whatever flavor of Magic you prefer!
