[Update #2]: Sam's Story DLC has now been released, and it seems to be a fair bit larger than its predecessor.

[Update]: Metro Exodus will be coming back to Steam on February 15th, one day after the exclusivity deal expires.

If you've finished up Metro Exodus and you're now left yearning for more, you'll be glad to hear that the second-story focused expansion will be arriving this February 11th. Much like the first expansion, Sam's Story will not be focusing on the series' protagonist Artyom, but rather on a brand new character - Sam, a lone US marine desperately searching for a way back home.

"Sam has long dreamed of returning to his homeland, and maybe finding his family alive," reads the brief description. "The prospect seemed impossible in the darkened tunnels of the Metro, but when the Spartans discovered that Moscow was not the only city left alive after the war, holding out hope didn’t feel so foolish anymore."

"Sam makes his way away from the Aurora in search of a way back to the USA, arriving at the remains of Vladivostok’s tsunami ravaged harbours, ruined industrial buildings, and crumbling residential districts. To complete his journey, Sam will discover that he needs every tactic he has learned so far to survive, as his surroundings prove to be far trickier than expected."

The details behind the new DLC are currently few and far between, but if the Expansion Pass is $25 and the previous DLC $8, that indicates that Sam's Story will be both significantly larger and more expansive than its predecessor. This is pure speculation on my part, however, so until Deep Silver or 4A Games release some concrete information, I would take all of this with a grain of salt.

Whatever the case may be, you can learn more about Sam's Story, as well as Metro Exodus' Expansion Pass as a whole, over at Steam. And just for good measure, I'll leave you with a trailer for the first expansion - The Two Colonels:
