Hitman 3 teaser showing off a new Year 2 map

[Update #2]: Hitman 3's free July update has added a brand new map to completely ransack- Ambrose Island.

[Update]: IO Interactive has revealed their plans for Hitman in 2022, including things like the Hitman Trilogy, VR support, and new game modes!

2021 hasn't even ended yet, and already IO Interactive have revealed their plans for Hitman 3's Year 2 updates. Needless to say, you can expect to see a whole bunch of new content in the form of new maps, storylines and game modes, though there will also be some fun new extras as well.

First and foremost, VR will be coming to Hitman 3 in January 2022, most likely around January 20th as that's when Year 2 will officially begin! The exact details behind the VR implementation are currently shrouded in mystery, and this includes the supported platforms, but you can get a little bit of an idea of what this might look like in-game by checking out some of the footage from the already available PS VR version.

On the technical side of things, Hitman 3 will also be getting support for Ray Tracing on PC at some point in 2022. Once again the details are few and far between, but the Ray Tracing implementation should greatly enhance the quality of the lighting and really make the new maps come to life.

You can also expect to see a brand new gameplay mode called "Elusive Target Arcade" which promises a whole assortment of challenges to overcome. Unsurprisingly, IOI hasn't revealed much more about this new feature either, but if I were to hazard a guess I would say the Elusive Target Arcade will be a way to replay previous Elusive Target missions, perhaps even with a couple of extra modifiers to make things just a bit spicier than usual.

All of this is just the tip of the iceberg as IO Interactive also has a major update planned for Spring 2022, though that one is apparently so special they didn't even release a tiny teaser about what it might contain. So once we get more information I'll make sure to let you know, but for now you can read a little bit more about Hitman 3's Year 2 updates over at the official website.
