Square Enix sure is working fast on these Final Fantasy ports because its only been 7 days since the Final Fantasy IX PC & mobile port was announcement and they're already giving out further information.

According to the newly added Steam page Final Fantasy IX will be arriving on PC in early 2016 and will feature improved graphics as well as Steam achievements, five gameplay modifiers (such as the advertised no encounter mode), autosaving and more.

Let me just say that I am incredibly grateful that whoever decided to do this port didn't "upgrade" the visuals in to a blurry mess like they've done with Final Fantasy VI. The graphics in FFIX look somewhat dated, as you might expect from a 15 year old game, but the improved textures and higher quality character models are quite the upgrade from the originals while still keeping the same visual style, something I do appreciate.

As for the minimum system requirements, well let's just say you can run this thing on pretty much anything:

        OS: Vista /7/8/8.1/10

        Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2GHz or higher

        Memory: 2 GB RAM

        Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600GTS or ATI Radeon HD4650 or higher

        DirectX: Version 11

        Storage: 20 GB available space

        Sound Card: DirectSound® compatible sound card（DirectX®9.0c or later） 

As of right now there is no actual release date but the announcement website did state that it is coming soon so once further information arrives I'll make sure to update you. For now I'll leave you with the trailer showcasing the improved visuals:
