Far Cry 5 official promo artwork

After a couple of teasers and a whole bunch of leaks Ubisoft has now finally spilled the beans on Far Cry 5. Given that the rumors have correctly predicted most of the plot it probably won't come as much of a surprise to hear that we'll be heading into rural Montana in order to stop a fanatical doomsday cult from taking the entire county by force. What might come as quite a surprise, however, is that Far Cry 5 will allow you to have specialized animals like bears and cougars as companions in your missions. And yes, you read that correctly - you can apparently tame a bear!

While the recently posted announcement trailer only shows the barest glimpses of said bear, it should at least give you a pretty damn good idea of just what kind of tone Far Cry 5 is going for. Have a look:

More gameplay details will be coming in the near future, but what I can tell you right now is that Far Cry 5 will be arriving on February 27th, 2018. I'm not exactly sure why Ubisoft announced it so early given that the excitement level is guaranteed to die down after nearly a year of waiting, but at the very least we know they are attempting something a bit different with the Far Cry series.

You can learn more about Far Cry 5, or just follow its development over the coming months, by heading over to the official website. There's not much in terms of gameplay information available right now, but there are a couple of interesting videos you can check out. Enjoy!
