After being slightly delayed due to some last-minute polishing, Darksiders: Warmastered Edition is now available on Steam. But more interestingly of all, if you own the original Darksiders you'll get the new and improved version for free! And if you're wondering what exactly you need to do in order to claim your copy, wonder no more as it should be automatically granted to you the moment you log into Steam.

On the other hand, if you're interested in seeing all of the fancy new graphics, you'll find the recently posted trailer right below. Unlike the previous video this one has actual PC footage, so there is much less pop-in and a lot less blurry textures, though Darksiders is still undoubtedly a fairly old game, so don't get too excited. But enough yammering from me, here's the video:

So what exactly does this Warmastered Edition even bring to the table? Well, its mostly just graphical improvements and general bugfixing, so nothing major in terms of gameplay. It brings with it support for 4k resolutions, much better textures, higher quality cutscenes, improvements to the overall rendering, better shadows, more consistent framerate, and other such lovely little things. In other words, if you were hoping for a slightly better version of the original Darksiders, you can consider your wish granted! And conversely, if you didn't like Darksiders, you're probably not going to have your mind blown away by the Warmastered Edition either.

On a final note, the Warmastered Edition is currently on a rather massive 80% discount on Steam, so if you feel like trying out the Darksiders series on the cheap, now would be the time. Have fun!
