Rise of the Triad Ludicrous Edition artwork for the remaster of the classic FPS

[Update]: If you're in a retro FPS mood, it's well worth mentioning that the Blood inspired Cultic has now landed onto Steam alongside some highly positive reviews.

If oldschool FPS games are your jam, boy do I have a treat for you! Rise of the Triad, a true classic that has already been enjoying a small resurgence, is now not only getting an HD remaster, but also a fair bit of new content as well!

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition will bring with it all of the original Rise of the Triad episodes and expansion packs, support for 4K and ultrawide resolutions, uncapped framerate, along with improved art and cutscenes. And just in case one soundtrack isn't enough, the Ludicrous Edition will also come with both the original and the reboot's scores.

As far as extra stuff is concerned, the Ludicrous Edition will include all of the content from the "lost" betas, as well as a brand new episode created by New Blood, Night Dive and Apogee Software veterans. Furthermore, there will also be a brand new and easy-to-use level editor so you can create your own campaigns or just battle arenas to go with the newly improved multiplayer mode.

You can get a pretty good idea of what all of this looks like in action through the freshly posted reveal trailer. Have a gander, it's quite a nostalgic one:

No release date has been announced just yet, but according to the brief announcement blurb Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition will be launching for PC and consoles "SoonTM." Whether this is a "in a month or two" soon or Valve's patented "within the next few years" soon, I suppose we'll find out in due time.

Whatever the case may be, I'll make sure to let you. Until then, you can read more about the Ludicrous Edition over at Steam. Enjoy!
