[Update #2]: Respawn has now released a video preview showing off all of the major Season 2 features!

[Update]: Respawn has now also detailed the weapon changes and additions coming in with Season 2.

After a couple of months of limited updates, things are now finally starting to speed up for Apex Legends. The Legendary Hunt event has recently landed alongside a variety of bug fixes, balance changes and cosmetic skins, while the upcoming Season 2 is set to offer a whole bunch of new content.

First and foremost, Season 2 will bring with it a new defense-focused Legend called Wattson. She'll be able to place electric fences that damage and slow enemies while stretching surprisingly far, whereas her ultimate will destroy any projectiles (bombs and grenades) within its range and slowly recharge allied shields. Best of all, Wattson's passive will make it so even a single ultimate accelerant will fully recharge her ultimate!

We'll need to see how all of this pans out in actual matches, but so far I have to admit I'm kinda worried about how strong Wattson appears to be. Just imagine trying to push into a house that has been fortified by Caustic, Wattson and Lifeline. Not only do they have a million static defenses to get through, but they can all recharge their health and shields for free. Now that is a scary combination!

As for Wattson and her motivation for joining the Apex tournament, here's a brief lore-focused video highlighting just that. Have a peek:

Besides Wattson, you can also look forward to the incredibly powerful L-Star rifle. It'll only be available from supply drops, the same as the Mastiff or Kraber, but if you do manage to get your hands on one, you will have a weapon with both incredible damage and ammo capacity! Here's what it looks like in-game:

The final few features are currently shrouded in mystery so I can't go into detail about them, but you can expect to see two new hop ups (one of which will be equippable on the Mozambique), a new equipment slot, ranked mode, as well as something related to the giant dragon-looking things that are flying around the arena. Whether they will be a part of a brand new event or something else entirely, I'm afraid we'll have to wait until Season 2 nears closer to find out.

Speaking of which, all of this will be coming to Apex Legends on July 2nd. A bit of a wait, but it'll hopefully give Respawn enough time to fix some of the current issues before adding even more interlocking systems.

Once more information becomes available I'll make sure to let you know, but until then I wish you the best of luck in the Legendary Hunt event!
